Myofascial Release Description:
Myofascial Release is a highly specialized stretching technique used by practitioners to treat patients with a variety of soft tissue problems. Poor posture, repetitive strain, injury, illness, inflammation or stress can negatively affect body alignment and cause fascia to become restricted.
As the body is forced to adapt to unresolved restrictions, abnormal motion and postures develop, which over time can lead to pain, impaired body movement, weakness, inflammation, or malfunction throughout the body, sometimes with seemingly unrelated symptoms. Myofascial Release aims to access these areas of blockage and tension to release them, thereby freeing up the muscle and allowing it to move more easily and effectively.
Myofascial Release is a form of bodywork, using hands-on pressure, gentle massage and stretching techniques for stretching the fascia, with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and balancing the body. Fascia is located between the skin and the underlying structure of muscle and bone. It is a seamless web of connective tissue that covers and connects the muscles, organs, and skeletal structures in our body.
With Myofascial Release the fascia is manipulated, directly or indirectly, allowing the connective tissue fibers to reorganize themselves in a more flexible, functional fashion. Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain, restore motion and rehabilitate a range of injuries |
