What wonderful movies us humans come up with to humanize animals.\u00a0\u00a0 All the cartoons that show animal friends talking and thinking like humans, acting like humans and reasoning like humans.\u00a0\u00a0 They\u2019re fun to watch but they aren\u2019t how the real animal world thinks or functions.<\/p>\n

Many countries around the world have domesticated animals and with this domestication, we forget where animals came from or what\u2019s been bred into them for thousands of years.\u00a0\u00a0 We forget they have their own DNA that makes up much of what they are and how they act and react to situations.<\/p>\n

We also forget there are humans in the outback of Australia, in the jungles of Africa, South America, who are living in the most basic animal survival mode with these animals.\u00a0 These humans don\u2019t see animals as human at all and as a matter of fact these humans understand animals and the way they think probably better than most animal communicators.<\/p>\n

These people are in survival because they don\u2019t have refrigerators to keep their food in.\u00a0 They don\u2019t have phones for emergencies.\u00a0 They don\u2019t have money, a computer, running water, electricity, or any of the basic things many of us take for granted.\u00a0\u00a0 But what they do have is the understanding of animals and how they think.<\/p>\n

If animals thought like humans, they\u2019d be human!<\/p>\n

In my line of work I see too many animal communicators humanizing animals.\u00a0 When I was at psychic school, we learned to back away from our thoughts and judgments and to let the messages come in as they did.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t put our own life experiences on them.<\/p>\n

Every animal communicator experiences and receives their messages in a different way. \u00a0Then they have to translate those messages into human terms because animals don\u2019t think like we do.<\/p>\n

So in my experience, an animal won\u2019t tell me their teeth hurt because they don\u2019t know what teeth are.\u00a0 But they\u2019ll show me a picture of their mouth and I know to look into their teeth.<\/p>\n

Animals live in a different world than we do.\u00a0 They need to know their surroundings are safe and balanced.\u00a0 Animals live in a world of survival first.\u00a0 Wild animals are in survival 98% of the time while domesticated animals are less but still live by their DNA.<\/p>\n

Humans have survival DNA too but because we are mostly \u201ctame\u201d humans, at least the ones reading this, rather than a person living in the jungles or outback, we don\u2019t live in survival as much.\u00a0 If we had our survival skills more on the surface, many of us wouldn\u2019t get mugged or robbed.\u00a0 We could sense danger better than we do now or at least listen to our inner voice more when we feel something isn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n

Studies are showing DNA can determine the range of behaviors in each species.\u00a0 Animal behaviorists are starting to study animals outside of their natural environment. They help us to understand if and how bred-in and learned behavior can be modified through training and changes in a pet’s diet or environment.
\nModifying a pet’s behavior can be a challenging task because of their DNA or bred-in instincts.\u00a0 Wild animals have certain instincts and no matter if they are born in the wild or in captivity, some of these innate instincts will surface.\u00a0\u00a0 Although pet owners have the responsibility for teaching their pets, they often do not have any formal training in how to do this.\u00a0 Too many humans get animals for the wrong reason with no basic idea or information on what the animal needs to survival and be healthy.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this is why many animals end up in shelters or are abused because owners misunderstand the cause of their pet’s behavior.\u00a0 I always tell people \u2013 you have to think like an animal to understand an animal.\u00a0 And because animals sense and feel things to a greater degree than humans, we can hardly understand it all.<\/p>\n

Their sense of smell is about 2000 times greater than ours, their hearing is at least 100 times greater and their instinctive survival skills are with them since birth. \u00a0We should learn to watch and listen to animals more to help us learn the world they live in.\u00a0 With these evolved senses, they can smell something that may scare them or put them in a survival mode and we haven\u2019t a clue what that is.
\nUnderstanding why pets sometimes “misbehave” requires careful understanding of their bred in traits and their ability to learn.<\/p>\n

The disposition of a particular pet and the circumstances surrounding their behavior are also factors.\u00a0 We need to look at where they were born and how they were raised to understand many personalities.<\/p>\n

Even though one group or species may have the same DNA, each individual animal is different.\u00a0 This includes looking to see if they had enough food, water and how they were socialized.\u00a0\u00a0 Were they beaten up in the litter or did their mother die when they were too young to learn everything from her.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just like all humans have the same basic DNA, but with some changes for skin color, eye color, etc.\u00a0\u00a0 It works the same way in the animal world.\u00a0 All zebras will have the same basic DNA but every zebra has a different striped pattern on its\u2019 body to mark its individualism.<\/p>\n

We have to look at the species and understand that every species have their own traits and instincts, but realizing survival is the first thing on an animals mind.<\/p>\n

The animal world is a world of day-to-day survival that many of us in the \u201ctame\u201d world can\u2019t understand and probably don\u2019t want to see or face, but it\u2019s real.\u00a0 If we can just acknowledge that it exists, we can start to understand many animals\u2019 behaviors, instincts, actions and reactions and honor them instead of condemning them.<\/p>\n

So please remember this saying, \u201cif it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it\u2019s a duck.\u00a0 But if it walks like a human and thinks like a human, it\u2019s a human.\u201d<\/p>\n

Animals don\u2019t know what world peace is, they just want peace in their world.<\/p>\n
