When taking herbs, it is best to take herbal remedies in cycles.  For example- take the herbs for two weeks, then abstain for two weeks, then resume for two weeks, and then two weeks off. Or, take for a month and then abstain for a month.  The reason for this is that the body adapts to the herbs and develops tolerance or resistance.  If taken continually, most herbs lose their beneficial effect.
